Yarmouth Clam Festival Success

The Yarmouth Clam Festival http://www.clamfestival.com/home.phps one of the most successful events in Maine. In part this is do to MCHG's commitment to the community. Both the Muddy Rudder http://www.muddyrudder.com/ and Freeport Inn & Cafe http://www.freeportinn.com%20have/have traditionally played major roles. This year was no different.

The Rudder sponsors the "Muddy Rudder Canoe Race. It starts in the Royal River and ends up the Cousins River at the Rudder. This year, despite the weather, was a success.

The Best Western Freeport Inn & Cafe sponsored the Diaper Derby. 150 crawlers, walker and runners participated. Channel 6 sports broadcaster, Lee Goldberg announced the event. Rumor had it that one racer, after the pee test, was disqualified. But the rest were fine. This years surprise was that fact that parents at the finish line went high tech. Instead of the the usual bribes of food and toys, some some used Cell phones. One even had a TV remote control. They times they are a changin!

Thanks to the many MCHG volunteers for supporting the Clam Festival. (especially Les Garey who was on the steering committee) Good for the community, good for business, and lots of fun!

As always, the Yarmouth Clam Festival is enormously grateful to the Muddy Rudder and the Freeport Inn and Cafe for your generous and enthusiastic support!

We can't thank you enough for pitching in again this year to make the Festival a terrific event.

Good weather always helps, but it could never provide the organizational and foundational support that you do.

    MUCH appreciated!
